Subway announced Tuesday "significant updates" to its menu, highlighted by three new signature subs and a new crunchy sub topping.
The sandwich chain also announced the return of its sweet and tangy BBQ sauce after a three-year hiatus. The sauce features "familiar hints of hickory smoke, black pepper, red pepper and warm spices," according to a news release from the company.
Subway also unveiled an all-new Cheddar Cheese sauce, a "smooth and creamy blend of sharp cheddar cheese, American cheese and a hint of parmesan," according to the news release.
The three new Subway Series sandwiches are:
- Honey Mustard BBQ Chicken: Rotisserie-style chicken topped with Monterey Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and pickles, all drizzled in Honey Mustard and Subway's smoky BBQ sauce.
- Spicy Nacho Chicken: Rotisserie-style chicken, topped with green peppers, red onions, jalapeños, SubKrunch and finished with Cheddar Cheese sauce and Creamy Siracha sauce for an extra kick.
- Cheesy Garlic Steak: Savory sliced steak topped with green peppers, red onions and SubKrunch, drizzled with Roasted Garlic Aioli and Cheddar Cheese sauce.
"Subway's new menu update is all about great flavor at a great value and giving our guests new ways to take their footlong subs and snacks to the next level," said Paul Fabre, Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation at Subway, in the news release.
Subway introduces SubKrunch, a new sandwich topping
The sandwich chain also introduced SubKrunch, a crunchy topping customers can get on any sandwich, wrap or salad.
"These crispy bits were developed to add an audible crunch to every bite, coated with a savory seasoning and then fried to perfection," the company said in the news release.
Subway introduced Footlong Dippers last month
The new additions to the menu come about a month after Subway unveiled Footlong Dippers, which the company describes as "cheesy and craveable footlong snacks" that joined the restaurant's Sidekicks menu.
The Dippers feature swirling melted cheese, meat, and are rolled in Subway's flatbread. They are available in three varieties and are served with one of Subway's 11 signature sauces, and are available for $3 at Subway restaurants nationwide.
The three varieties of Dippers include:
- Pepperoni & Cheese
- Chicken & Cheese
- Double Cheese
